Day of the Cole

Some of you may know me from my Twitter postings. I tend to be a bit of a smart ass. And sarcastic. I can be sarcastic. It's a thing. I can't help it. I drink coffee. I write. And I'm a sarcastic smartass. If you follow me on Twitter, I thank you for your patronage. If you don't, give me a try, you might like it. And if you find my posts to be offensive… I'm not everyone's cup of tea.

Others of you may have read my other blog "Set Charlie Free" and if you have, I thank you for your interest. It's greatly appreciated. It is worthwhile to point out that while on that blog I speak extensively on the matters surrounding my divorce, this site is very different.

I've been writing for a few years now, trying my hand at short stories on a regular basis. I've written some drafts of novels that have stayed in exactly that state, an unfinished, unpolished draft. As Stephen King said in "Pet Semetary", some things are better left dead.

In 2008, I turned a corner and decided to finish what I'd started. I'd been working as a headhunter for 13 years at that time. They tell authors, "Write what you know." It's not horrible advice. But I didn't know anything about covert intelligence agencies or domestic terrorists. But I did know about recruiting talent for government contractors and collecting competitive intelligence.

I set a goal for myself and turned out a rough draft of "Headhunters" in a year. I have to confess that the task of editing and marketing that book seemed almost insurmountable. It took two more years and a handful of readers before I finally felt like I had a handle on taming this beast.

Now in 2011, "Headhunters" is edited and published on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords. My rants can still be found on Twitter and you can rely on me to speak my mind and hopefully make you laugh along the way. In the coming days, you'll see me more active on Facebook and Goodreads and other social media outlets.

What's on the horizon? Marketing. Marketing that damn book! But I laugh when I say it. That damn book…. I love it.

What about the writing?

Coming in April 2012, I'll be releasing "Suicide Doors", my debut horror novel. For more details, please see my "Books" link. In the meantime, just know that you'll find a supernatural thriller and steamy romance that pushes the redline and never disappoints.

You can look forward to more titles in the future bringing you exactly the kind of story you'd expect in the uncensored, indie author market.

I'll be updating this site and the Set Charlie Free sites regularly, so feel free to send me your comments, questions, snarky comments and requests. I'm glad to respond. In the mean time, I'll be having a beer and working on my book.

I love my work and I love writing for you guys and gals. The day job is the day job, but this is what I live for. It took me a long time to find the work that I love and I'll be damned if I'm giving this up. I'm happy doing what I'm doing.

Every dog has his day.

Today is the Day of the Cole.
